Hello
I'm Maddy (She/Her) and I am an HCPC state registered art psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, with over 14 years of experience. I work with all ages and work in private practice, as well as in schools. I can offer long term psychotherapy to adults who would like to explore their mental health difficulties through in depth, psychodynamic based art psychotherapy.
Art therapy isn't just about making art.
It is a non-judgmental, confidential space to discuss and express whatever is on your mind.
Supporting Adults
Art Psychotherapy offers an alternative to traditional talking therapies, which may not feel accessible or helpful for everyone. It can be offered on a short- or long-term basis and provides a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels right for you.
You may be seeking space to reflect on your identity, relationships, or sense of self — including experiences related to a late Autism or ADHD diagnosis, race and culture, or being part of the LGBTQ+ community — without pressure to find solutions. You might also want support to understand how past experiences continue to shape your present, or to explore current challenges such as anxiety, low mood or depression, burnout, relationship difficulties, loss, or bereavement.
Art therapy is not about having artistic skill. It offers a gentle, supportive process for reflection, expression, and meaning-making, using both conversation and creative exploration. Our work will be shaped around what feels most important to you, at your own pace.

Supporting Children and Young People
I have many years of experience training and working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), including neurodevelopmental teams, Mental Health Support Teams (MHST), schools, and charities. I have supported children and young people experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood or depression, trauma, and the uncertainty of life changes such as bereavement, separation and divorce.

I have also worked with children and young people with lifelong conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and Global Developmental Delay, as well as those who are neurodivergent.
My approach is thoughtful and flexible, offering a safe and supportive space that is shaped around each child or young person’s individual needs, strengths, and way of communicating.

My Story
I am a qualified Art Psychotherapist, registered since 2012, having completed a Master’s degree in Art Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire (Distinction). I have worked across the NHS, schools, and charitable organisations, supporting both adults and children.

Before training as an Art Psychotherapist, I worked as a graphic designer and later gained experience working with people with disabilities and epilepsy, volunteering in the Middle East, and teaching children and adults in Japan. Throughout these experiences, art remained central to how I understood myself and others. Experiencing Art Therapy as a client deepened my understanding of its impact and confirmed my wish to work therapeutically.
Since qualifying, I have facilitated therapy groups for adults experiencing mental health difficulties, addiction, and homelessness, and later specialised in working with children and young people in CAMHS and educational settings. I have also completed the CYP IAPT Supervision Postgraduate Certificate and have managed and supervised mental health practitioners delivering school-based interventions.
My practice is informed by evidence and research, alongside a strong emphasis on understanding each person’s individual history, culture, identity, and family context.
